I missed last weeks Musing Monday so am reporting on a fortnights reads.

The last two weeks I have taken time out from serious reading; the doom and gloom of research into war and dislocation; time out from the great but ancient classics, and indulged in a fest of urban fantasy. Easy on the mind and great fun.

Apart from Neon Court by Kate Griffin and the non fiction these will all count towards my New To You Reading Challenge as new authors

Fated by Benedict Jacka.

I have also just finished a couple of detective novels as well,  two more new authors

I shall be writing my reviews soon for the challenges.

This week I finished a non-fiction book I had been reading for a couple of weeks – It’s a ‘dip-in’ kind of book –Wordsmiths & Warriors by David and Hilary Crystal. I like his books about the  English Language very much indeed. A good couple of weeks for books. Probably all read out now! I will be posting reviews later.

This coming week I will be reading Prose Edda by Snorri Sturluson,  and Areopagitica   by  John Milton. If all goes well I will  hopefully will be starting Dr Faustus  by Marlow.

As mentioned last time I was here I had to re-read my first novel Ellen’s Tale for talk/discussion I had been invited to at a book group. It went very well despite my reluctance:)

I had never done this kind of event before, but I really wanted to know what readers really thought, what kind of discussions the book could provoke. It was very interesting and the questions were sufficiently wide ranging for me to really feel comfortable with the thought they had reacted as I had hoped readers would. I wrote a short piece about it on my website http://albertaross.co.uk they all stood me for a very tasty lunch before had.  good day:)

No random question today. Not sure what the holiday is for but I like holidays:)
